Hot girl summer is all about having fun and looking good while doing it; it’s body positive, feeling confident in who you are—and bringing out that summer style.

Taking inventory, my nails look a little more hot mess than hot girl as we head into summer.

Let’s face it, this last year there has been zero effort in my routine. Most of us wore pyjamas most of the time and our hair stayed in messy buns to match.

But this year, we all have a chance to basically get two summers in one, and since we’re all out of sad reasons to sit at home, it’s time to get our inner hot girls out and something tells me this year is going to be better than ever at Tara Rose Salons.

So I’m starting with my nails. I love summer and the many beauty trends it brings— especially in Abu Dhabi. But the best part is summer manicures — the nail polish shades get brighter, often way bolder than I’ll dare try, normally; the designs, or nail art is super creative as well.

For me, my style is minimalist year round, but my beautician had just the right design in mind: a colourful French manicure that blended pastels and brights. This has been a hot trending design in Abu Dhabi. If your nails a longer than mine, you can even opt for the super hot outlined French, which just adds that extra sass to your nails.

But, my colourful French isn’t the only colourful trend, in fact, swirly nails, tie-dye and colour block manicures are right up there in popularity and are set to take over this summer. Even adding a bit of chrome shine to bright summer colours will give you that shimmer to look ready to run the world.

For ladies looking to keep it slightly less patterned, she suggested pastel variations of the same colour, or going with one of the hot bright colours trending this summer: blue or red.

Sticking with the natural angles of my nails and my short length, my half-polished, hot mess of nails are no more. They have been transformed officially and I have been getting all the compliments, ladies! Who knew just adding a little colour to a simple French-mani would do that?
