I began this journey from hot mess with an open mind—but this week, I may have toed the line of skepticism when I learned my scheduled transformation was eyebrow lamination and LVL lash lift. Let’s face it, the only laminating I’ve ever done involved feeding plastic sheets through a hot machine, not bringing out my inner hot girl with the fluffy, defined brows popular with the celebrity and supermodel crowd.
But, as I took a deep breath, the wisdom of one much more versed in the ways of beauty, the impeccable Elle Woods, resounded:
“lt’s like l always say–Why let someone else do for you what you can do for yourself? Except in the case of eyebrow maintenance.”
Indeed, my eyebrows have been in dire need of maintaining, or any attention for that matter. And that’s exactly what Tara Rose Salons have set up on offer during our Hot Girl Summer promotion— the perfect brow and lash package to create those gravity-defying brows and perfectly curled lashes for the summer season.
How does it work?
We started out by my beautician creating the perfect natural shape that would look great against the curve of my brow and eye. The actual process of the lamination is done using a gentle perm solution, neutralising lotion, and moisturising treatment to temporarily relax and redirect your brow hairs upwards and into place.
Because the hairs are relaxed, they appear longer, giving the effect of a fuller brow overall. It’s this uniform position, or how your brows appear to be set in place that is the reason they’re called ‘laminated’, so I was pretty thankful to know there were no hot machines involved after all!
The other treatment I had done was the LVL lash lift. LVL lashes stands for length, volume and lift, which is pretty much everything I hope for when I put on mascara, but usually a single product offers volume or length but not both.
The process is a bit similar to the brows in that your lashes are covered in a special serum that straightens them from the root – however, rather than actually straightening them, it actually gives them that super curled look. Plus, with my treatments, my beautician gave me the added tint on both my lashes and brows since they’re so light naturally to add the illusion of even more fullness and volume.
What is the process like?
The whole process went by fast, and since my eyes were closed for all of it, I felt so relaxed, I was nodding off forgetting someone was actually doing things to my face at different times of the developing process.
The before and after speak for themselves. I have fuller and more defined brows that actually provide framing to my face. It’s ideal for women who want to have a well-groomed look, but don’t want to have to spend so much time every single day on make-up routines.
Plus it works great for those of us who haven’t got perfectly shaped, fuller eyebrows, as it allows for room to create shape and add volume, too.
But with zero discomfort and very low maintenance after the treatment, this is exactly what I need more of in my life!

Overall, this experience is a total win. Depending on your natural brow/lash situation and how well you care for them, the treatments can last for at least six weeks. I might take advantage of the salon’s All-In-One beauty chair and add on a foot massage next time to really get a full relax in.
